Students Day

In the course of the 9th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart the Filmbüro Baden-Württemberg arranges a ‚Students Day’ for pupils of 9th to 12th grade.

The importance of India in the global market is increasing. Along with China and Japan, India is the strongest economic power of Asia. Nevertheless India is still a country which is struggling with poverty, overcrowding, illiteracy and social injustice, even though India is a parliamentary democracy by its constitution. India has to solve many problems in the social sector like the lack between poverty and wealth, missing equal opportunities and the clash of tradition and modern world.
The emancipation of women, the individual development, the freedom of choice and many folkways such as arranged marriages are highlighted. India is still involved into military conflicts. Since the terror attacks in 2008 the relationship between India and its neighbour Pakistan is strained.
Besides all this problems and achievements India is still a country with a huge among of culture especially in dance, music, food, literature and film. The selection of films for the ‚Indian Film Festival Stuttgart’ focalize on arthouse productions from different regions of India. Films that give a closer view into the daily indian life, tell about joy and sorrow and show that this faraway country can be very close and that we’re all humans, regardless of the religion and culture we belong to.

The application form and some more information will be announced in May.
